Fix Sideways or Upside-Down PDF Pages
Rotating PDF pages means turning a page's orientation in 90-degree steps and saving a new file. This guide lists the steps we ran with this site's Delete and Rotate PDF Pages tool on test PDFs.

How do I rotate an upside-down page?
Click ⟲ (rotate left) or ⟳ (rotate right) under the page's picture until it is upright, then click Save PDF.
- Open Delete and Rotate PDF Pages and add your PDF. Each page appears as a small picture, shown in the orientation the page currently has.
- Click ⟳ or ⟲ on the page. Each click turns it 90 degrees, and a turned page gets a label such as "Page 1 · 180°". The summary at the top then reads, for example, "Keeping 6 of 6 pages · 0 to delete · 2 rotated".
- Check the picture. If it is wrong, turn it again or click Undo all changes.
- Click the save button, which shows the page count such as "Save PDF (6 pages)", then click Download PDF on the result screen.
Can I rotate only some pages?
Yes. You can rotate pages one by one or several at once. We tested with a 6-page PDF whose page sizes are mixed and some of whose pages were already turned.
- One by one: we rotated page 1 to the right twice and page 2 to the left once, then saved.
- Several at once: clicking page pictures to select pages 3 and 4 changed the bar to "2 selected", and the rotate button then turned only the selected pages. With nothing selected the bar is labeled "All pages" and the button turns every page; on a 2-page test PDF we used it to turn both pages left.
Is the rotation saved?
In this tool, yes. We read the rotation value stored in each saved file and it had changed by the amount we turned:
- 2-page file, page 1 rotated right and saved: page 1 at 90°, page 2 at 0°.
- 6-page file (starting values 0, 0, 0, 90, 180, 270°), page 1 right twice and page 2 left once: 180, 270, 0, 90, 180, 270° (pages we did not touch were unchanged).
- When we added the saved file to the tool again, it started at "0 rotated". The orientation you just saved becomes the new starting point.
This is a check of the rotation values inside the file. We did not check how the file looks in other programs, so open the saved file and look at each page yourself. We also did not compare this with turning a page only in a viewer program.
What should I check afterwards?
Open the downloaded file and check that every page is upright and the page count matches. In our test we checked page count and rotation values, not each page's content.
When this does not work
- Password-protected PDFs are not supported. Adding one showed a notice that password-protected PDFs are not supported for deleting or rotating pages. → Can't Merge or Split a Protected PDF?
- A scanned (image-only) PDF could also be rotated page by page (we rotated a 1-page test scan to the right and saved it; rotation value 90°), because the tool changes orientation rather than reading text. Not sure if yours is a scan? → How to tell a scanned PDF from a text PDF
- Only 90-degree turns are offered. There is no control for straightening a slightly tilted scan.
If some pages are not needed, you can delete them on the same screen. → How to Delete Pages from a PDF
