How to combine several PDFs into one
To join several PDF files into one, (1) gather the files, (2) set the order, and (3) check the merged result. The Merge PDF tool on this site does this inside your browser.
1. Check before merging
- Password-protected PDFs can't be merged. Save an unlocked copy first.
- File-name order may differ from the page order you want, so write the order down first.
- If page sizes differ between files (A4, landscape, portrait), the merged file can look uneven on screen.
2. Steps
- Add all the PDFs.
- Arrange them in the order you want.
- Run the merge and save the new PDF.
3. Check afterwards
- The total page count should equal the sum of the original files' page counts.
- Look at the first page, the last page and the pages where one file ends and the next begins.
- Bookmarks, form fields and some annotations may not carry over. For important files, keep the originals.
4. If the merged file is too large
Large files can be blocked by email or upload limits. → How to reduce a PDF's file size
